Job Title: Researcher Organised Vehicle Crime Unit

Salary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: This role will primarily be based at Cobalt Square, Vauxhall but there may be a need to travel to our workshop based in Belvedere, Kent as required by the business.

The Role

We are looking for a professional, committed and enthusiastic researcher who will play an important role in supporting the operational activity of the Organised Vehicle Crime Unit. You will be responsible for logging and managing all operational requests and specialist support from officers within the organisation submitted to a mailbox.

You will be responsible for logging and managing Intelligence Reports received from the DVLA and providing them with updates.

You will conduct research and make an initial assessment on the DVLA referrals to establish any links to criminality and any officer safety risks posed to the team members/police officers who will be tasked by you to examine and recover the vehicles. Research will require the use of Metropolitan Police indices and open-source resources, as well as bespoke applications for which training will be provided.

You will liaise with MPS Officers and Staff and on occasion external partner agencies, police forces and members of the public who are in possession of vehicles that require examination in order to facilitate vehicle examinations.

You will also play an important role in identifying trends and linked series from your research, and sharing it with the OVCU team in order to assist in development of intelligence.

In addition to these core functions, you may be asked on occasion to provide administrative support to the team, such as: the provision of management information, creation of intelligence reports, creation of research profiles for individuals open source research as well as assisting with the planning and executing of operational action days in which stolen cloned vehicles are recovered for further investigation.

Additional Information

Hours/Shift Pattern - Full time position available working Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Operational requirements/deployments may require shift times to vary but this will be infrequent and advance notice will be given.
