An exciting opportunity has arisen within the LSHTM Electronic Health Records research group for a medical statistician or epidemiologist to work on a highly innovative research collaboration with University of Hong Kong (HKU), funded by Innovation and Technology Commission. This offers an early career stage EHR scientist a unique opportunity to develop a transnational portfolio of research.

We wish to appoint to a full-time position in the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM. This is a collaboration with the research group at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, HKU. The appointee will apply these methods to investigate the benefits and harms of medications, using routine clinical data from UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink and HK Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree or be within 3 months of anticipated completion of a PhD in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology. Experience conducting independent research using routinely collected electronic health records and writing analytic code in Stata, R and/or SAS is also essential. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 October 2025. The post is funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission, Hong Kong and is available from 01 June 2024.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
