A Database Administrator is required on a permanent contract with British Transport Police (BTP) based at Force Headquarters Camden London. This opportunity will be a blended role with a mixture of office and homeworking.

We are a national police force covering the rail network throughout Great Britain, including the London Underground, ensuring the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

Key activities include:

  • Responsible for installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, maintenance and tuning of physical databases.
  • Research and respond to logged issues, providing advice/training to users, devise and implement effective solutions and improvements
  • To liaise with key system suppliers, business customers and technical colleagues

Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience of working as a production DBA in predominantly SQL Server environments, with some experience in an Oracle Server environment
  • Good experience of performance monitoring and database optimisation tools and techniques
  • Good experience of backup and recovery tools and techniques.
  • Good experience of implementing SQL Server systems as part of a project.
  • Some experience in SQL Server Developer
